Larry Flynt

I think most of us know Larry Flynt, the wheel-chair bound publisher/owner of Hustler Magazine etc. The guy that outstanding director Milos Foreman made a movie about entitled "The People vs Larry Flynt".

Well if nothing else Larry certainly knows how to get publicity for himself.

Flynt says that the economy is so bad that the US should give the Porn industry 5 billion dollars in bailout money. This could be a publicity gimmick, or a statement on how ludricrous is the entire US bailout scheme of Wall Street OR he could be serious. Consider...

If the US government is bailing out Wall Street billionaires, and the Big Three Auto makers who can’t figure out how to make a good product that people will buy, well then...?

Clearly, in Mr. Flynt’s view the porn industry is a necessary part of our lives and our economy and deserves to be nurtured, otherwise it could collapse and all of those porn starlets could be out of work. Or worse...the jobs could move off shore. I mean instead of North American pornography we might be forced to watch only Eastern European or Asian porn. Heaven forbid!!

And think of the trickle down effect. Plastic surgeons would likely be the first suffer -- as there would be fewer aspiring "actresses" wanting breast augmentation, cheek implants, liposuction and tummy tucks.

Mr. Flynt is supported in his views by Joe Francis the guy who brought us the "Girls Gone Wild" videos. Could North America do without our co-eds raising their shirts at Spring Break and Mr. Francis putting it all on DVD for posterity?

You and I know what should be done with Mr. Flynt’s and Mr. Francis’s request. But after seeing how Congress has handled your money so far...he just might convince them that this is an essential industry or a cultural heritage worth preserving.
