Silvio Berlusconi
What can you say about Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Actually quite a lot. The guy is a billionaire, who is not afraid to be not so politically correct. Isn’t that somewhat refreshing?
Here is a guy who, whether you agree with him or not, … and I think a lot of men would agree with him…. likes women. And it appears the older he gets, the younger he likes them. My guess would be that that is true of most men. The difference is that old Silvio can attract younger women because he has those two timeless aphrodisiacs: money and power.
When I watch the CBS comedy Two and One Half Men, they talk about sex, and masturbation and drinking excessively and even hating your mother. Charlie Harper’s hedonistic lifestyle is condemned on the one hand yet glorified on the other. He doesn’t appear to work, he drinks to excess and he has at least one much younger woman in his bed every episode often of the hooker variety.
But Charlie Harper is a fictional character although Charlie Sheen’s real life seems to be even more off that chart than his fictional character’s - but that’s another story. My guess is that when a man is 20, just about any aged woman will turn him on. But as he gets into his 40s he often hits that “middle-aged crazy stage” where he fears losing his masculinity and sexual appeal. He is still attracted to that 20 year old woman, but he starts to worry she is no longer attracted to him.
This problem does not go away as he ages into his 50s, 60s and even 70s. He either learns to live with it, or if he has the money and/or power he does what good old Silvio does and Bill Clinton did and Elliot Spitzer did. He indulges himself with girlfriends, mistresses or hookers.
If we are grown up enough to watch Charlie Harper’s escapades in prime time and our 10 year old children can watch the reruns at 7pm, aren’t we grown up enough not to condemn Silvio Berlusconi for living his life as he sees fit.
Or maybe good old Silvio should have his own reality show …. And so should Charlie Sheen. Now that’s reality.
